A “How To” on Selling Your Home
Posted by TessaHR on Jun 9, 2012Gosh we are so sorry to be late on our Secrets of a Stager blog updates! It’s been a super busy month here at Hampton Redesign. What does that mean to you as a DIY stager? It means that buyers are out there buying and making offers.
Does this mean you don’t need to make that extra effort to stage your home for sale? Absolutely NOT! I recently had the experience of selling a home without a realtor. A true DIY experience. I posted the home on Craigslist with a Postlet ad and sent it viral by also posting it on Zillow. I even purchased a For Sale By Owner sign at Lowes and was given a free two week trial on forsalebyowner.com
Of course I used photos of the home staged to perfection. Which made all the difference in the world. I cannot tell you how many comments I got about how wonderful the home looked. The photos did the selling for me. They created interest and made a unique impression on the prospective renters and buyers out there. Oh yes I also had the home for lease as I was considering both options.
Staging this home for sale created unique visitors and many many inquiries. The bottom line? This home sold in less than 30 days on the market without ever listing it in MLS (multiple listing service).
What can you learn from my experience? Take your time to prepare your home first by staging it using our guides or your own design expertise – or a little of both! Set a reasonable price and keep the faith. There are buyers out there and they are motivated. Your home could be sold before you know it!
